The American Cancer Society is very near-and-dear to my heart. Why? Because both of my in-laws are cancer survivors thanks to the research that the ACS has funded.
While many people are at odds with their in-laws, I love mine. They are the most wonderful people. But losing them would have been even more traumatic than most people can comprehend.
You see, my wife used to live on the east coast. She moved away from everything she knew just to be with me here in the mid-west. She left her friends. She left her career. She left her family. Everything. Six months after our wedding, her mother was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia. And a few months after that, her father was diagnosed with colon cancer. To say that our house was stressful during those months would probably be an understatement.
My wife was thousands of miles away from her parents who were both battling cancer. To have lost both of them in such a short time of her making the leap to be with me would have destroyed her.
But they discovered each of their conditions early, and through God’s grace I can proudly proclaim that they are cancer-free today. The ACS played an instrumental part in their healing process, and I wanted to find some way to return the favor.
So, here’s what I plan to do:
I usually sell Death Has a Name for $1. Not a whole lot of room for profit and definitely not much room to help others in that price. Instead, I’m going to RAISE the price of Death Has a Name to $5.00.
